Aung San Suu Kyi celebrates 66th birthday in freedom

Myanmar democracy icon, Aung San Suu Kyi celebrated her birthday in freedom for the first time in nearly a decade, with advocates of symbolic releasing birds in a cage with more than 50 agents of state security as seen from the street.

The celebration was attended by about 500 party members and supporters who held candles in their hands as they wished Suu Kyi well. And released balloons into the air and released dozens of sparrows and pigeons from the cage in her honor.

"I wish for peace, stability and prosperity of the country," said Suu Kyi was briefly address supporters of his opposition party headquarters in Yangon.

Aung San Suu Kyi said there was "flying sparks of war" in the country, apparently referring to recent fighting between government troops and rebels in northern Kachin, where thousands of displaced people.
