Dalai Lama - We need compassion, not money

People need to become more loving and compassionate to change the world because money does not provide true happiness, the Dalai Lama said.

Addressing thousands of followers in Melbourne on Saturday on the true meaning of happiness, he said that the replacement of greed, society, affection had brought to mankind by the frustration and loneliness.

Money and material possessions provide temporary happiness, but not a true inner peace, he said.
He urged the people to compassion and affection shower younger generations, so you can create a happier world than what exists.

"'Promotion of moral ethics based on affection - which is ultimately the only answer," he said.

"We need moral ethics education, from kindergarten through college ... so I think there is real hope for change, more changes in our society.
